Five Month Refurbishment and modernisation Project
The Goods Line Bridge was refurbished as a part of the Urban Renewal Project. The Line was established in 1955 as a link from Central Station to the Inner West. The new walkway connects more than 80,000 tertiary students, locals and visitors to the many major attractions of Sydney’s Darling Harbour and surrounding suburbs.
Due to the age of the bridge, there was a need to scaffold and then encapsulate the entire area to control the risk of lead dust. The bridge also spans a busy road that links the Inner City with Ultimo. Much of the erection procedure was completed at night, with road blockages and closures primarily restricted to nighttime and weekends. Many adjustments were made during the 5 month project.
New Connection for Redevelopment of the area
The success of the project was measured by our client not only by the outstanding final result as shown in our pictures, but also on the ability to keep lead dust emissions well below Australian Standard requirements. Traffic was only disrupted at night and during weekend low peak periods.
Encapsulated Scaffolding helped create Success
Mr Scaffold is proud to have taken part in such a successful transformation.
